Mooresville - Speedy Business and Quiet Neighborhoods
Known as the Race City USA, Mooresville is the second largest community in the Lake Norman region. Located in southern Iredell County, only a short hop of 25 miles to Uptown Charlotte, on the eastern shore of Lake Norman.
Racing is everywhere in Mooresville. Not only do several NASCAR teams call the community home, but it is also the home to multiple museums dedicated to North Carolinas rich racing heritage. Due to the large quantity of race teams in the area, a large number of businesses in supporting industries have located here as well.
While racing, and the recent relocation of Lowe’s corporate headquarters have helped the community grow. Development around Lake Norman continues in Mooresville just as it does around the rest of the region. Incredible golf courses, a State Park, with a public beach, and other amenities make Mooresville a destination community, not just a bedroom for Charlotte.
From the vibrant downtown to neighborhood parks, Mooresville is a community that has embraced the opportunities that growth has presented without losing sight of its friendly, comfortable, small town feel as it races towards the future.
Two separate public school districts serve the Mooresville area. Both Iredell-Statesville Schools and the Mooresville Graded School District operate in the area along with high quality Charter and private schools. Mitchell Community College operates a campus just outside of downtown.
For a community with a large lake and racing so central to the community, Mooresville has a thriving theater and events venue downtown as well as a summer concert series that keeps the community on its feet. A wide range of dining opportunities exist, creating a lively food scene for the community.
The recent relocation of the Lowes Hardware corporate headquarters to Mooresville expanded a local employment base that is otherwise dominated by racing teams and supporting industries. Recent growth has also spurred the further development of a thriving small business community.
